Ghana's Football Legend Asamoah Gyan Expresses Concerns Over Black Stars' Tactical Depth Amidst Mohammed Kudus' Injury

Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan, has voiced his concerns about the Black Stars’ tactical prowess following the injury withdrawal of midfield star Mohammed Kudus. Kudus, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur, is expected to miss at least three months due to a muscle injury, dealing a significant blow to Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Gyan emphasized that Kudus has become the heartbeat of the national team, praising his ability to transition from defense to attack as a rare commodity in modern football.

“The technical team faces a daunting task in finding a like-for-like replacement, describing Kudus’ style as a unique spark that is difficult to replicate,” Gyan said in an interview on Channel One TV.

The veteran striker urged head coach Carlos Queiroz and the technical staff to look inward and focus on finding good replacements, stressing that international football is a game of contingencies. “Good replacements are the only way to survive the rigours of major international competitions,” Gyan insisted.

Ghana is set to face Mexico in an international friendly, and the team’s momentum heading into the World Cup is now under scrutiny.

The Black Stars have been drawn into Group L, featuring England, Croatia, and Panama.
