An Executive Member of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Samuel Kyenkyenhene, has declared his intention to contest the Ejisu Constituency Vice Chairmanship position ahead of the party’s upcoming internal elections.
Mr. Kyenkyenhene, a former Branch Secretary, former Branch Chairman, and currently a Constituency Executive Member and also a staff at Knust faculty of Law, says his decision is driven by years of grassroots mobilization and a commitment to consolidate NDC gains in the constituency.
Grassroots Mobilizer Credited for Assembly Gains
Party members in Ejisu credit Mr. Kyenkyenhene for expanding the NDC’s influence beyond its traditional stronghold.
According to supporters, the NDC previously recorded significant votes only in Ejisu Zongo during district assembly elections. However, through what they describe as Mr. Kyenkyenhene’s influence and consistent grassroots work, the party has increased its representation in the Municipal Assembly.

Track Record in Campaigns and Party Service
Mr. Kyenkyenhene has been actively involved in branch and constituency-level campaigns over the years.
His contributions, party members say, earned him the role of Collation Officer for the NDC at Adansi Asokwa Constituency during the 2024 general elections that brought the party back into government.
Beyond party structures, he is also known in the community for social interventions. He facilitated free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration for hundreds of residents in Ejisu and surrounding communities.
“The grassroots are now relying on him as the best candidate for the vice chairman post in Ejisu because of his commitment and accessibility,” one branch chairman noted.
Focus on Unity and Expansion
Speaking to party delegates, Mr. Kyenkyenhene said if elected, his priority will be to strengthen branch organization, improve communication between the constituency executives and the grassroots, and expand the NDC’s vote base ahead of future elections.
He pledged to leverage his experience as a former branch officer and his network to support candidates and ensure the party remains competitive in Ejisu, traditionally a stronghold of the opposition.
Party insiders say the Ejisu vice chairmanship race is expected to be keenly contested, with delegates weighing experience, loyalty, and the ability to mobilize resources at the constituency level.
The NDC is expected to hold its constituency executive elections across the country in the coming months as part of efforts to re-organize for the next electoral cycle.
