SLOPSA 1981 Year Group Donates CCTV Project to St. Louis SHS to Enhance Campus Security

The 1981 year group of St. Louis Old Students’ Association (SLOPSA) has handed over a newly installed closed-circuit television (CCTV) system to St. Louis Senior High School, aimed at improving safety and security across the school campus.

The project, which covers the school chapel, dining hall, and kitchen, was officially presented to the school by Mrs. Leticia Osei-Poku on behalf of the year group.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, she said the initiative was a way for the group to give back to the institution that shaped them.

“The school which has shaped us into the women we are today laid the foundation for our lives,” Mrs. Osei-Poku said.

“This donation is a gift of return, addressing a need and necessity that caters to the safety and security of the school community.”

The CCTV system, valued at over GH₵50,000, was funded by members of the 1981 year group to mark 50 years since they first entered St. Louis SHS.

According to the group, the installation is intended to safeguard students, teachers, staff, and visitors who access the campus daily.

Mrs. Osei-Poku also commended fellow alumna Mrs. Mary Nuako for coordinating the project and mobilizing members of the year group to see it through.

The Headmistress Ama Kyerewaa Benefo Receiving the donation, expressed gratitude to the 1981 year group for their continued support to the school.

She noted that the CCTV system would strengthen the school’s capacity to monitor activities, deter misconduct, and respond more effectively to security concerns.

St. Louis SHS, one of Ghana’s leading girls’ senior high schools, has a long-standing tradition of alumni engagement in infrastructure and welfare projects. School authorities say contributions from old students remain vital to maintaining and improving facilities for current and future students.

The 1981 year group said the donation reflects their commitment to ensuring that St. Louis SHS continues to provide a safe and conducive environment for learning.
