The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has announced a major partnership with KGL Group and the KGL Foundation to expand access to advanced diagnostic care in Ghana through the construction of a new, state-of-the-art diagnostic centre at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge.
The project marks a significant response to a call made by the GMTF on Corporate Ghana on 5th February this year to help retool Ridge Hospital with modern diagnostic equipment.

According to the GMTF, KGL Group, in partnership with the KGL Foundation, has gone far beyond the initial request for equipment.
Instead of a piecemeal donation, the Group is funding the construction of a brand-new diagnostic facility that will house all specialist services under one roof.

The centre will be equipped with an MRI machine, CT scan, mammography unit, X-ray machine and fluoroscopy machine. Officials say the investment represents one of the largest corporate-led interventions in Ghana’s diagnostic healthcare space in recent years.
“This is a remarkable demonstration of corporate leadership and commitment to improving healthcare,” the GMTF stated.
“By building a complete centre, KGL is helping to close a critical gap in access to advanced diagnosis and treatment.”

Official Site Inspection Marks Start Of Implementation
The project officially moved into the implementation phase yesterday following a joint site inspection at Ridge Hospital.
The inspection was led by the GMTF Administrator, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, and the Chief Executive Officer of KGL Group, Alex Apau Dadey. Their teams were also present to review the project site and timelines.
Officials described the visit as the formal kick-off of construction and installation works for the new facility.
Expanding Access To Specialist Diagnosis
Health experts note that the new diagnostic centre will significantly strengthen Ridge Hospital’s capacity to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions.
By bringing MRI, CT, mammography and other key imaging services together, the hospital will be able to deliver faster and more accurate diagnoses. It will also expand access to specialist diagnostic services for thousands of patients in Accra and surrounding regions who currently face long wait times or travel outside the capital for such care.
The GMTF said the facility aligns with its mandate to mobilize resources to modernize healthcare infrastructure and reduce the burden on patients seeking advanced medical services.

A Model For Public-Private Partnership
The GMTF expressed deep appreciation to KGL Group for responding to the call with what it described as “an extraordinary commitment.”
“This partnership demonstrates what can happen when Corporate Ghana and Government come together to transform healthcare and improve lives,” the Fund noted.

KGL Group CEO Alex Apau Dadey said the investment reflects the company’s belief that access to quality healthcare is fundamental to national development. He added that the KGL Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that deliver measurable impact to Ghanaians.

The Greater Accra Regional Hospital, popularly known as Ridge Hospital, is one of the country’s leading referral centres. The addition of the new diagnostic centre is expected to reduce pressure on other tertiary facilities and improve patient outcomes across the region.
Construction is expected to proceed in phases, with updates to be provided by the GMTF and KGL Group in the coming months.
