The Gen Z gospel sensation Legend Apaase Atote, widely known in showbiz as Apaase, has opened up about the ridicule and mockery he endured at the early stages of his music career over his exceptional vocal texture.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Ofie Kwanso Drive Show with popular presenter Asanka Boyosman, the gospel hitmaker disclosed that some industry players and critics mocked his unique voice, saying it would never take him anywhere.

“He mocked me that my voice is a female voice and it will get me to anywhere,” Apaase revealed during the interview, recounting the painful words that were once used to discourage him.
Despite the discouragement, the young gospel legend said he remained focused, turned the mockery into motivation, and stayed committed to his God-given talent.

Today, that same voice which was once ridiculed has become his trademark and the reason for his dominance on Ghana’s gospel airwaves, producing hit after hit and winning the hearts of thousands of gospel music lovers.

Apaase made the revelation as he kick-started his Ashanti Regional Radio Tour to promote his newly released single titled “MASEDA”.
The tour began in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, where the singer is expected to visit several leading radio stations to interact with fans, share the inspiration behind “MASEDA”, and encourage young talents not to give up in the face of criticism.
“MASEDA”, which means “My Thanksgiving”, was released on October 5, 2026, as his 11th official single and has already started receiving massive airplay and positive reviews.
The singer used the opportunity to encourage upcoming artistes with unique talents never to allow mockery to kill their dreams, emphasizing that what people see as weakness can become their greatest strength.
