I’M IN THIS CONTEST TO WIN MORE WOMEN VOTES FOR NDC IN ASHANTI – ADIZA FUSEINI DECLARES; TOUTS ROLE IN 2024 VICTORY

A leading aspirant for the position of Deputy Ashanti Regional Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Adiza Fuseini, has declared that her decision to contest the position is driven by a strategic desire to win more women votes for the party in the Ashanti Region, which she describes as the vote basin that determines general elections.

Hajia Adiza made the remarks while speaking to journalists shortly after successfully going through vetting and balloting for the upcoming Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing elections.

Following the balloting exercise, she picked slot Number 1 on the ballot paper a position her supporters have hailed as a clear sign of victory.

Ashanti Is The Vote Basin

Addressing the media, the Deputy Women Organizer hopeful emphasized the critical electoral significance of the Ashanti Region, noting that any party that seeks to win general elections in Ghana must perform creditably in the region.

“The Ashanti Region is the votes basin to win general elections. If we are able to win more votes here, especially women votes, victory for the NDC will always be assured,” she stated.

According to her, women constitute the majority of voters and play a decisive role in elections, hence the need for a deliberate, well-coordinated strategy to mobilize, empower and retain women in the party’s fold in the region.

She said her contest is not merely about occupying a position but about bringing on board a practical strategy that will increase women participation in party activities and translate that into electoral votes.

Backbone Of Grassroots Women Mobilization

Hajia Adiza disclosed that she has been the backbone of women mobilization from the grassroots level in the region, working tirelessly across constituencies to organize women, build structures and galvanize support for the NDC.

She noted that her contributions were instrumental to the party’s victory during the 2024 general elections, where she said she personally mobilized women groups, coordinated door-to-door campaigns and provided logistical and moral support to women organizers at the constituency and branch levels.

“I have been the backbone of women from the grassroots mobilization and contributed more to the party’s victory during the 2024 elections. My work on the ground speaks for itself, and the women know what I have done for them,” she added.

She indicated that her track record is well known to delegates, particularly women in the rural constituencies, where she has built long-standing relationships and supported many with small business empowerment and welfare interventions.

Pledge To Consolidate Gains

If elected as Deputy Ashanti Regional Women Organizer, Hajia Adiza pledged to work in close collaboration with the substantive Women Organizer to roll out a comprehensive women empowerment and mobilization agenda aimed at retaining the NDC’s women base and attracting more women from the opposition.

She outlined plans to establish active women wings in every constituency, institute regular training and capacity building for branch women organizers, and introduce welfare and micro-enterprise support schemes to make the women’s wing more vibrant and attractive.

She thanked the vetting committee for a smooth and transparent exercise and appealed to delegates to give her the mandate to serve, describing her Number 1 slot on the ballot as symbolic of her readiness to put women first and lead the charge to win more votes for the NDC in the Ashanti Region.

The Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing elections are expected to be keenly contested as the ruling NDC seeks to consolidate its grassroots structures and strengthen its hold in a region traditionally considered the stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
