Afigya Kwabre North DCE Appeals for Urgent Health Infrastructure and Staffing Support

Residents of Afigya Kwabre North District continue to face challenges accessing quality healthcare, as limited medical infrastructure and a shortage of health professionals persist across the area.

District Chief Executive Emmanuel Jackson Agumah has called on the Ministry of Health and central government to intervene urgently by providing modern health facilities and deploying qualified medical personnel, including surgeons, to the district.

Speaking at the district’s maiden 2026 Town Hall Meeting held at the Methodist Church in Ahenkro, Hon. Agumah said the lack of adequate healthcare infrastructure forces many residents to travel long distances for basic and emergency care. He noted that the situation places a heavier burden on vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and the elderly.

“The absence of sufficient healthcare infrastructure has compelled residents to travel long distances in search of basic and emergency medical care,” he said. “This adds to the hardship faced by vulnerable groups.”

The DCE stressed that improving healthcare delivery is critical to enhancing residents’ well-being and reducing preventable complications caused by delayed treatment.

He said addressing the gaps would support broader efforts to improve living standards in the district.

The town hall meeting brought together chiefs, assembly members, opinion leaders, and residents to review the assembly’s developmental progress and discuss pressing challenges.

Hon. Agumah used the platform to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, describing the engagement as part of efforts to strengthen community participation in governance and development planning.

On infrastructure, he said government remains committed to completing abandoned projects across education, healthcare, and water systems. He specifically referenced the continuation of the government’s Agenda 111 hospital projects and other legacy initiatives aimed at expanding public services in underserved communities.

Hon. Agumah added that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama is focused on ensuring continuity by completing projects inherited from previous governments while introducing new initiatives to improve conditions in the district.

He expressed optimism that with adequate government support, Afigya Kwabre North would see marked improvements in healthcare access and overall socio-economic development.
