The grassroots base of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Manso Nkwanta Constituency has rallied behind Paul Kusi, widely known as ‘Commander P’Kay’, describing him as the right candidate for the Constituency Secretary position in the party’s upcoming internal elections.
The endorsement comes as party structures in the mining constituency intensify preparations to elect new executives to steer the NPP’s operations and electoral machinery ahead of 2028.
“The Right Candidate for the Job”
Members of the grassroots, including polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and youth activists, said Commander P’Kay’s experience, accessibility, and commitment to the party make him the most suitable person for the Secretariat.
“The grassroots of the New Patriotic Party in Manso Nkwanta Constituency hails Paul Kusi, widely known as Commander P’Kay, as the right candidate for the Constituency Secretary,” party supporters stated in a joint declaration over the weekend.
They argued that the Constituency Secretary must be a unifier, a mobilizer, and an administrator who understands the concerns of the base. According to them, Commander P’Kay has consistently demonstrated those qualities in party activities over the years.
Supporters noted that ‘Commander P’Kay’ is well-known across the constituency for his grassroots engagement, particularly with youth groups and polling station executives who form the backbone of the NPP’s electoral efforts in Manso Nkwanta.
“He is one of us. He listens, he mobilizes, and he is always present when the party needs him,” a polling station executive said. “That is the kind of leadership we need in the Secretariat to keep the party united and active between elections.”
Others pointed to his organizational skills and his ability to coordinate party activities at the community level as key reasons for the overwhelming support from the rank and file.
Focus on Unity and Party Building
The grassroots campaign team said the push for Commander P’Kay is not about personalities but about strengthening the NPP in Manso Nkwanta. They believe his election will improve communication between the constituency executive and the base, enhance record-keeping, and ensure effective coordination of party programs.
“Our focus is unity, hard work, and victory for the NPP in 2028. We believe Commander P’Kay will help us achieve that,” a youth organizer stated.
Party Elections Ahead
The NPP is expected to conduct constituency executive elections across the country in the coming weeks as part of its internal restructuring and preparations toward the next general elections.
With the endorsement from the grassroots, Commander P’Kay’s campaign is expected to gain further momentum in the days leading up to the polls in Manso Nkwanta.
