Dr. Keskine Owusu, a contender for the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer position of the New Patriotic Party, has picked number 1 on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s regional executive elections.
The ballot balloting exercise, held over the weekend, sets the stage for the contest to elect new regional executives to steer the party’s affairs in the NPP’s largest stronghold.
“Number 1 Means Victory”
Speaking shortly after picking his slot, Dr. Owusu described the outcome as a positive sign for his campaign and supporters.
“Picking number 1 on the ballot paper is a clear indication of victory on election day,” he said.
“It shows that the delegates are ready for a new direction in how we communicate, mobilize, and project the NPP in the Ashanti Region.”
Dr. Owusu, who has been engaging party structures across the region in recent months, said his decision to contest the Communications Officer position is driven by the need to reposition the party’s messaging and deepen engagement with the grassroots.
Plan To Reshape Party Communication
Outlining his vision, the communications hopeful said he intends to introduce a more strategic, proactive, and technology-driven approach to party communication in the region.
According to him, the focus will be on rapid response, consistent messaging, media relations, and empowering constituency communication teams to effectively project government and party achievements.
“I want to strategize and reshape the communication cycle in the region. We need a system that is timely, factual, and connects directly with our base and the general public,” Dr. Owusu stated.
He added that his campaign will prioritize training for communicators, strengthening digital platforms, and ensuring that the party’s story is told accurately at both local and national levels.
Context Of The Contest
The Ashanti Region remains the NPP’s biggest vote base, and the Communications Officer role is seen as critical in shaping public perception, countering opposition narratives, and mobilizing support ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Party delegates are expected to vote in the coming weeks to elect new regional executives who will lead the NPP’s operations in the region for the next four years.
Dr. Owusu has in recent weeks toured several constituencies, meeting with delegates, polling station executives, and party faithful to present his vision for the communications portfolio.
With ballot positions now set, campaigning is expected to intensify across the 47 constituencies in the region.
