Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Chairman COKA, a leading contender for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party, has picked number 1 on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s regional executive elections.
The balloting, conducted during the week in Kumasi, officially set the order for candidates contesting various regional positions.
“Clean Campaign, Strong Party”
Speaking after picking his slot, Chairman COKA pledged to run a campaign devoid of insults and internal division, and to focus on building a strong and united party in the region.
“My focus is simple: less talk and more action, less noise and more progress, less jokes and more work,” he stated.
“I am committed to running a clean campaign and building party structures that will work effectively for the NPP in the Ashanti Region.”
He said unity among executives, constituency leaders, and the grassroots will be central to his leadership if elected.
Focus On Parliamentary And Presidential Gains
Chairman COKA also outlined his key electoral targets for the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He pledged to work harder to secure back parliamentary seats lost in the region and to increase the NPP’s presidential vote share in Ashanti, which remains the party’s largest vote bank.
“We are going to work harder to win back more parliamentary seats and get more votes for our presidential candidate,” he said.
“The Ashanti Region must continue to lead in delivering victory for the NPP.”
Ready To Work With Media And Face The Opposition
The Chairman hopeful further promised to strengthen relations with the media, describing the press as a critical partner in projecting the party’s achievements and policies.
“I will work with the media together. We need the media to help us communicate better with Ghanaians and tell our story properly,” he noted.
On the opposition, Chairman COKA said the NPP in Ashanti is fully prepared for the contest ahead.
“We are ready for Asiedu Nketia. We are ready for the National Democratic Congress come 2028,” he declared.
Significance Of Ballot No.1
Describing his ballot position, Chairman COKA said picking number 1 was symbolic and would give his campaign the needed boost.
Party delegates in the Ashanti Region are expected to vote in the coming weeks to elect new regional executives who will lead the NPP’s operations ahead of the 2028 polls.
The Regional Chairman position is widely regarded as one of the most influential roles in the party, given Ashanti’s status as the NPP’s traditional stronghold.
With balloting now complete, campaign activities are expected to intensify across the region’s 47 constituencies.
