KGL Foundation Partners GNPC Foundation To Offer Scholarships To 1,000 More Ghanaian Students

The KGL Foundation and the GNPC Foundation have announced a strategic partnership aimed at expanding access to quality education for Ghanaian students, in a move that brings together the public and private sectors to invest in the country’s human capital development.

The partnership agreement, signed at the KGL House in Accra, will see both Foundations collaborate to support an additional 1,000 students. The initiative builds on the GNPC Foundation’s longstanding scholarship programme and the KGL Foundation’s strong commitment to education as a catalyst for national development.

The collaboration is expected to help more Ghanaian students pursue their educational dreams without financial constraints standing in the way.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Group Executive Chairman of KGL Group, Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, welcomed the partnership and spoke about the personal significance of education to him.

He recounted how his late father, Dr. Alex Dadey, was a distinguished educationist, a legacy that has deepened his appreciation of education as a key driver of opportunity and national transformation.

“True success lies in our ability to create value and ensure that the value we create contributes meaningfully to the lives and communities from which we derive value,” Mr. Dadey stated.

On her part, the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Ms. Helga J. M. Boadi, described the partnership as a clear demonstration of the power of public-private collaboration in addressing national development priorities.

She disclosed that to date, the GNPC Foundation has supported more than 9,700 students through its national and international scholarship programmes, with approximately 1,390 students currently enrolled under its national scholarship scheme.

The new collaboration with the KGL Foundation will enable the Foundation to bring an additional 1,000 students into the programme.

Ms. Boadi expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing that collaboration between public institutions and private enterprises should go beyond conventional commercial relationships to include purposeful investments in people.

She further highlighted the GNPC Foundation’s holistic approach to educational development, noting that its interventions are undertaken in collaboration with institutions such as the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to ensure that educational investments go beyond infrastructure and contribute to stronger learning environments.

Mr. Dadey added that education remains a key thematic area of the KGL Foundation, which has already supported over 300 students and continues to build partnerships that expand access to educational opportunities.

He cited some of the Foundation’s major education initiatives, including its partnership with Lancaster University Ghana to support scholarships for brilliant but needy students, the refurbishment of the Gloria Boatemaa Dadey Nifa Basic School in Adukrom into a renowned centre of learning, the Kwabotwe Centre for Sports Excellence, the UG Alumni Centre currently in its final phase, and its US$1 million, five-year partnership with the Ghana Football Association to support juvenile football development.

Representing the KGL Foundation, the Programmes Manager, Nii Annorbaah Sarpei, described the partnership as a significant addition to the Foundation’s growing network of collaborations with public institutions, including GETFund, the Mental Health Authority, the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Football Association.

For both Foundations, the objective is clear: to turn educational opportunity into human potential, and human potential into lasting national progress.
