Tension is mounting in the Oforikrom Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as thousands of aggrieved constituents, including hundreds of delegates, have called on the Elections Appeal Committee to ensure that truth and justice prevail in its verdict on the disqualification of Mrs. Afia Brayie Ossei.

Mrs. Ossei, described by her supporters as a strong and formidable contender against the incumbent Women Organiser, was disqualified on vetting day after a petition was filed against her eligibility.
Her supporters believe the disqualification was a calculated attempt to clear the path for the incumbent to go unopposed.

In an interview with journalists, a delegate who spoke on behalf of the aggrieved group threat to invoked the authority of the gods, calling for fairness in the appeal process.
The delegate stated: “Afia has been our saviour in the constituency for the past 8 years during our time in opposition. She has been paying people’s school fees, paying hospital bills for mothers who have delivered, supporting the aged in Oforikrom Constituency. She sponsored a child diagnosed with kidney disease. She has been the main sponsor of all Oforikrom Constituency NDC party T-shirts and above all, she donated a huge sum of money to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama during the fundraising to support him and the party for the 2024 election campaign.”

According to them, Mrs. Ossei’s contributions to the growth and sustenance of the party in Oforikrom cannot be overlooked.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Afia Brayie Ossei has officially submitted all vivid evidence requested by the Elections Appeal Committee to support her appeal for reinstatement.

Credible information available to Oseikrom 98.7 fm indicates that the evidence presented by Mrs. Ossei has led the Appeal Committee to discover alleged tampering with the constituency register, which was the basis for her initial disqualification.
The constituents are therefore appealing to the leadership of the party at the regional and national levels to intervene to ensure transparency and fairness in order to maintain unity in Oforikrom ahead of the 2028 general elections.
