ASHANTI NDC TREASURER MARVIN FRAZER FILES FOR RE-ELECTION; TOUTS GH¢12M FUNDRAISING RECORD, PROMISES TO QUADRUPLE TARGET

The Ashanti Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Marvin Norman Philip Frazer, has officially submitted his nomination forms to seek re-election, touting a strong record of financial management and promising to scale up fundraising for future party operations.

Mr. Frazer submitted his forms on the first day of the opening of nominations for the upcoming Ashanti Regional executive elections, becoming one of the first aspirants to declare his intention to retain his position.

Speaking to party supporters and the media after filing his candidacy at the regional party office in Kumasi, Mr. Frazer said he is seeking another term to build upon what he described as a transformative and unprecedented tenure for the regional treasury.

Ashanti Is The Shining Star – Frazer

Highlighting his performance over the past four years, Mr. Frazer claimed his stewardship turned the Ashanti Regional treasury into a model of efficiency and accountability that outperformed even the then governing party in resource mobilisation.

“When it comes to treasury, the Ashanti Region is the shining star,” Mr. Frazer stated. “We can boldly say that during my time as the regional treasurer, the party had enough resources even more than the ruling government.”

He attributed the success to prudent financial management, transparency and strict accountability measures that restored confidence among donors and party financiers.

GH¢12 Million Raised In Opposition

A key highlight of his address was the financial milestone achieved during the previous election cycle. According to him, his administration raised at least GHS 12 million to support party operations, including logistics, grassroots mobilization and election-day operations, while the party was still in opposition.

The figure, he noted, was unprecedented in the region’s political history, especially for a party that was not in government and did not have access to state resources.

“If we were able to raise GHS 12 million even in opposition, God willing, we will do four times that amount coming into the next elections,” he assured.

“This is the time we are going to take care of the party people. We will raise enough money to take care of you,” he added to cheers from supporters.

Addressing his network of supporters who accompanied him to file the nomination, Mr. Frazer attributed his fundraising success to his ability to build strong bridges outside traditional political circles.

He disclosed that his campaign team and donor network includes prominent members of the business community who align with his vision due to his reputation for transparency, integrity and financial discipline.

According to him, his background as a finance professional and his open-door policy made it easier for private sector players to trust the regional treasury with their contributions, knowing that funds would be applied judiciously to party activities.

Mr. Frazer pledged to deepen that trust and expand the donor base to adequately resource the party’s grassroots and executive operations ahead of the 2028 general elections, particularly in the Ashanti Region, which remains the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He called on delegates to retain him to ensure continuity, stability and increased financial strength for the NDC in the region, promising an even more transparent and resourceful administration in his second term.

His filing has set the tone for what is expected to be a keenly contested regional executive election, as the NDC reorganizes and positions itself to consolidate its hold on power after returning to government.
