Anwiafutu Assembly Member Hon. Kaakyire Kwaku Owusu Cleared To Contest Atwima Mponua NDC Elections; Picks No.28, Pledges More Votes For TEAM KUTU

The Assembly Member for Anwiafutu Electoral Area, Hon. Kaakyire Kwaku Owusu, has been officially cleared to contest in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Elections in Atwima Mponua, scheduled for October 24.

Hon. Kaakyire Kwaku Owusu, who is contesting alongside 8 other aspirants, was earlier disqualified during vetting over an alleged mismatch of his Party Membership Identification Number.

Dissatisfied with the decision of the Constituency Elections Committee, Hon. Owusu petitioned the Ashanti Regional Office of the party. He was subsequently arraigned before the Ashanti Regional Elections Panel for a hearing into the matter.

After reviewing the evidence, the Regional Panel threw out the case levelled against him, describing the grounds for disqualification as lacking merit, and ordered his immediate reinstatement.

He was officially cleared to contest today, Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Following his clearance and balloting, Hon. Kaakyire Kwaku Owusu has secured No.28 on the ballot paper for the constituency elections.

Reacting to his clearance, Hon. Owusu expressed appreciation to the Ashanti Regional Executives for ensuring fairness and upholding the democratic principles of the NDC.

He pledged to work tirelessly to mobilize grassroots support to win more votes for TEAM KUTU and the NDC as a party in the 2028 general elections.

According to him, his experience as a local Assembly Member and his strong connection with the electorate at the base positions him to help improve the electoral fortunes of the NDC in Atwima Mponua.

“My focus now is unity and hard work. I pledge to win more votes for TEAM KUTU and the great NDC in the 2028 general elections. We will work to make Atwima Mponua stronger for the NDC,” he said.

Supporters in Anwiafutu and across the constituency have welcomed his reinstatement, describing it as a victory for due process and a major boost ahead of the October 24 polls.
