Liezer-Legacy Productions Clinches 3 Wins at Ghana Movie Awards with ‘Kejetia vs Makola’

The Liezer-Legacy Productions has delivered another defining moment for Ghanaian entertainment. When the Ghana Movie Awards public voting portal closed, the results were decisive: three nominations entered, three awards won.

It was a clean sweep that underscored the enduring cultural hold of _Kejetia vs Makola_, the satirical courtroom comedy that has turned market rivalries into national theatre.

The franchise, which Ghanaians have debated, quoted, and embraced for years, converted every nomination into victory. For an industry where margins are often tight, the scale of the wins made it clear this was not a close contest. It was a statement.

Three Categories. Three Victories

The wins were spread across acting categories and reflected strong public backing:

1. Best Lead Actor in a Drama or Comedy: Louis Lamis, Artistic Director and CEO of Liezer-Legacy Productions, won with 584 votes, representing 41% of the total vote share. He finished 229 votes ahead of his nearest competitor.

2. Best Supporting Actor: Prince Amoabeng, known to audiences as Jeneral Ntatia, secured the largest margin of victory on the ballot. He took the award with 567 votes and 44% of the vote share, 246 votes clear of his closest rival.

3. Favorite Movie Actor of the Year: Clemento Suarez faced the night’s most competitive field but held his ground to win with 729 votes and 38% of the vote share, weathering a late surge to claim the crown.

Three nominations. Three wins. The margins were decisive, and the message from voters was unambiguous.

The significance of the sweep extends beyond trophies. It officially kicks off the countdown to May 2027, which marks exactly ten years since _Kejetia vs Makola_ was formally branded and launched as a franchise.

The concept did not originate in a boardroom. It began as an unbranded comedic segment on The PM Show, a variety radio programme on Kumasi’s Luv FM. What it had from the start was a premise that resonated deeply with everyday Ghanaians.

Around May 2017, Louis Lamis recognized that potential, assembled a definitive cast, and built the structure that would take it far beyond radio.

Early episodes, released as short, rapid-fire skits directly on social media, went aggressively viral. Television networks soon came calling. But in a move rarely seen with Ghanaian digital content at the time, the team declined immediate TV deals and took the franchise to cinema first.

The nationwide theatrical premiering tour that followed has become industry legend. It opened in Kumasi, moved through Sunyani, Takoradi, and Tarkwa, and culminated in Accra where demand forced organizers to expand from four planned showtimes to ten back-to-back screenings. Audiences were still asking for more.

That momentum gave Liezer-Legacy Productions leverage to negotiate with Joy Prime on its own terms. The franchise then expanded into feature film with _The Trial of Shatta Wale_ and later into blockbuster live stage productions. Each step added another dimension to what had become more than a show: a full universe.

This Ghana Movie Awards sweep serves as the opening act for the franchise’s 10th anniversary celebrations. Television episodes continue to air, live stage productions still draw crowds, and the production house is actively developing new original properties alongside its flagship brand.

Plans for May 2027 are still being finalized, but the vision is clear. A decade deserves events, retrospectives, and spectacles that match the ambition and cultural weight the franchise has built.

“The public did not just vote for individual performances,” one industry analyst noted. “They voted for a decade of cultural history. To see _Kejetia vs Makola_ sweep an awards block ten years after its initial spark proves that it is not just a show. It is a cultural monument.”

The gavel has come down. The verdict is unanimous. And the tenth year is just beginning.
