The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly refuted a publication suggesting that the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Chairman COKA, has directed the dissolution of youth appointments in the region.
The publication, which was first carried by Kumasi Mail and subsequently republished by Ghanaweb with the headline “COKA directs dissolution of NPP Ashanti Youth appointments,” has been described by the youth leadership as entirely false and misleading.
In a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing Coordinator, Gen. Mohammed Buhari, and copied to this portal, the wing stated that after engaging the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, it can be confirmed that no such directive has been issued.
“The appointments in question were done in full consultation with the Regional Chairman and the Regional Executives, who have given their blessings to the appointees and have admonished them to work even harder towards Victory 2028,” the statement clarified.
According to Gen. Buhari, the false publication is the handiwork of persons seeking to sow disunity and hatred among the newly elected Ashanti Regional Executives.
“We believe this false publication is being spearheaded by persons who seek to sow hatred and disunity among the newly elected Ashanti Regional Executives, but this agenda is bound to fail,” he noted.
He further praised the Regional Chairman for his fatherly role and continuous support for the youth wing.
“The Regional Chairman has been a father and a guardian, not only to the Youth Organizer but to the entire Ashanti Regional Youth wing. He is poised to work hand in hand with the entire youth in the region to ensure H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is elected as the next President of Ghana,” the statement added.
The Youth Wing Coordinator has therefore urged the general public, particularly the youth of the Ashanti Region and the NPP fraternity, to disregard the publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves.
