The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chairman Augutus Nana Akwasi Andrews, seeks re-election, promising a leadership style focused on action rather than rhetoric.

In a new campaign flyer that has gone viral on social media platforms including WhatsApp Status, the Chairman is seen in a confident pose wearing a white shirt, with a bold inscription at the bottom that reads: “I will lead Ashanti with less speeches and more work.”

The poster also bears the official logo of the NDC – the umbrella with the party’s colours – and a clear call to action to delegates: “RETAIN CHAIRMAN NANA AKWASI.”
The message is being interpreted by political watchers as a direct response to calls from the party’s grassroots for pragmatic, results-oriented leadership in the Ashanti Region, which remains the most challenging region electorally for the NDC.
Chairman Nana Akwasi, since taking over as Regional Chairman, has been credited with a renewed sense of unity and re-organization within the party. His tenure has seen vigorous branch reorganization, enhanced mobilization, and a strategic attempt to improve the NDC’s electoral fortunes in a region historically dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Party insiders say his campaign has been anchored on a proven track record of experience, unity and service.
According to a close associate, Chairman Nana Akwasi believes the time for long speeches is over, and what the NDC in Ashanti needs now is a workaholic leader who will be on the ground, listening to the base and delivering on his mandate.
“The Ashanti Region needs a chairman who will not just talk but will work. A chairman who will unite all aggrieved factions after internal elections, resource the constituencies, and lead a strong campaign to increase our parliamentary seats and presidential votes,” the source said.

The Ashanti Regional Chairmanship race is expected to be one of the most keenly contested positions in the NDC’s next regional executive elections. The outcome is seen as crucial to the party’s overall strategy for the 2028 general elections.
As the internal campaign heats up, delegates and supporters are expected to weigh the candidates’ track records, loyalty, and ability to lead the party to victory in a difficult terrain.
Chairman Nana Akwasi’s early declaration with the “less speeches, more work” slogan is already generating positive reactions among party faithful, many of whom have taken to sharing the flyer across various platforms with messages of endorsement.
