The Former Bantama MP and a leading contender for the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Dr. Lawyer Henry Kwabena Kokofu has picked number 2 on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s regional executive elections.
The balloting exercise, held during the week in Kumasi, officially set the order for aspirants vying for various regional positions.
Speaking after the balloting, Hon. Kokofu outlined his vision for the party in the region under the theme: “Competence, Commitment, Experience. TheKokofumatters.”
He said the NPP in Ashanti needs leadership with proven capacity to manage structures, deliver results, and secure bigger electoral victories in 2028.
“My vision is anchored on competence, commitment and experience,” he stated.
“The Ashanti Region deserves leadership that can unite the party, strengthen our structures, and lead us to retain power. That is why TheKokofumatters.”
Track Record In Bantama: “The Florida Of NPP”
Hon. Kokofu highlighted his record as former Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, describing it as evidence of his ability to deliver massive votes for the party.
During his tenure, Bantama earned the nickname “The Florida of the NPP” for consistently recording some of the highest vote margins for the party in both parliamentary and presidential elections.
“I have a track record. In Bantama, we built a formidable political machine that delivered huge votes for the NPP,” he said.
“That same experience, that same commitment, is what I bring to lead the Ashanti Region.”
Party delegates and political observers noted that his performance in Bantama remains one of the benchmarks for constituency organization in the region.
Plan For A United And Stronger Ashanti NPP
The Chairman hopeful said his focus, if elected, will be on strengthening party structures from the polling station to the regional level, improving internal communication, and ensuring unity among all factions.
He pledged to work with constituency executives, youth and women organizers, and other stakeholders to expand the NPP’s support base and win back parliamentary seats ahead of 2028.
“The task ahead is clear. We must be competent in our organization, committed to our people, and experienced in winning elections,” Hon. Kokofu added.
Significance Of Ballot No.2
Describing his ballot position, Hon. Kokofu said picking number 2 reflects stability and a readiness to serve. He called on delegates to elect leadership that can guarantee victory for the party.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman position is widely regarded as one of the most influential roles in the NPP, given the region’s status as the party’s traditional stronghold and largest vote bank.
Delegates across the region’s 47 constituencies are expected to vote in the coming weeks to elect new regional executives who will steer the party’s affairs ahead of the 2028 general elections.
With balloting now concluded, campaign activities are expected to intensify as aspirants tour the region to present their vision.
