The leading aspirant for the position of National Women’s Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, has outlined her vision to champion the cause of Ghanaian women through broad collaboration and inclusive leadership.

Speaking on UTV during an interview ahead of the party’s National Executive Elections, the former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and former MP for Awutu Senya East declared that her leadership will be centered on unity, advocacy and partnership across political lines to advance women empowerment.

“When I become the National Women’s Organiser, I will collaborate with other party women’s organisers to fight for women in the country,” she stated.

According to Hon. Hawa Koomson, the challenges facing women in Ghana including economic vulnerability, limited access to opportunities, and underrepresentation in leadership transcend political affiliations and therefore require a united front from all women leaders, regardless of party colours.

A Unifier With A National Agenda
The NPP National Women’s Organizer hopeful explained that her approach will not be limited to NPP women alone but will extend to building bridges with women’s organizers of other political parties, civil society organizations and women-focused advocacy groups to push for policies and programs that uplift Ghanaian women.
She noted that as a former Minister and a grassroots mobilizer with years of experience working with women across the country, she understands the real struggles of market women, young women entrepreneurs, and women in rural communities.

Her campaign message, she said, is built on three pillars: Unity, Empowerment and Action. She promised to re-energize the women’s wing of the NPP, make it more visible and vocal on national issues affecting women, and ensure that women become key beneficiaries of party and national development initiatives.
Grassroots Backing Ahead Of October 3 Polls
Hon. Hawa Koomson is contesting in the upcoming NPP National Executive Elections slated for October 3, and has emerged as the frontrunner and the grassroots favourite for the position.

Many party faithful and women delegates see her as a bold, courageous and experienced leader who can reorganize the women’s front and make it a formidable force for mobilization ahead of the 2028 general elections.
She has therefore called on delegates to rally behind her vision of collaborative leadership, assuring them that under her tenure, the NPP Women’s Wing will not only fight for NPP women but will become a national voice for all Ghanaian women.
