Abanga Fuseini Yakubu has been elected as the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after securing a decisive and emphatic victory in the party’s national executive elections held in Kumasi.

Mr. Abanga Fuseini polled a total of 1,550 votes at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026, comfortably beating five other contenders to clinch the highly competitive youth leadership position.
His closest challenger, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, secured 631 votes, while Michael Osei Boateng obtained 78 votes, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi had 44 votes, Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah polled 46 votes and Alfred Kumi Ababio managed 25 votes.

The National Youth Organizer contest formed part of nine national executive positions that were keenly contested at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference, which attracted more than 7,000 delegates from across all 16 regions of the country.
The elections were supervised by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, with voting conducted across 31 polling stations established within the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

Abanga Fuseini takes over the leadership of the party’s youth wing from Salam Mustapha, who served as the immediate-past National Youth Organizer.
In his victory remarks, Mr. Abanga pledged to strengthen youth mobilization, reunite the youth front and aggressively expand the NPP’s support base among young Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 general elections.
His election is widely seen as a new chapter for the NPP youth wing as the party embarks on a rebuilding agenda to reclaim power.
