The Bekwai Traditional Council has announced plans to enstool Mr. Hackman Owusu Ansah as the new Ankobeahene of Bekwai.
The enstoolment ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, July 20, 2026 at the Bekwai Traditional Council palace.
A Recognition Of Service
Mr. Hackman Owusu Ansah, a professional driver and active member of the May Borns Association International, was selected following consultations by the Council and elders of the Bekwai stool.
According to the Traditional Council, the decision recognizes Mr. Owusu Ansah’s dedication to community development, his commitment to the Bekwai stool, and his support for residents within the traditional area.
“Mr. Owusu Ansah has shown loyalty, discipline, and a willingness to serve the people of Bekwai,” a palace source stated. “The Council believes he is worthy of this honour.”
Role And Significance Of Ankobeahene
In the Akan chieftaincy structure, the Ankobeahene serves as a right-wing chief and a key advisor to the Paramount Chief.
The position traditionally comes with responsibilities including mobilizing the youth, supporting developmental projects, maintaining peace, and assisting in the administration of the traditional area.
Elders of the Bekwai Traditional Council said the appointment is part of efforts to strengthen governance at the palace and to involve committed citizens in the progress of the area.
Ceremony Details
The enstoolment on July 20, 2026 is expected to draw chiefs, queen mothers, members of the May Borns Association International, family, friends, and residents from across Bekwai and beyond.
Traditional rites, cultural displays, and durbar activities will form part of the ceremony at the Bekwai Traditional Council.
The Council has called on the people of Bekwai to attend and support the new Ankobeahene as he assumes office.
“We urge all sons and daughters of Bekwai to come and witness this important occasion. It is a celebration of service and unity,” the Council added.
